Changed the CX-5’s air filter yesterday and managed to break the housing. Now, the corner of the air filter is exposed. The car still runs fine and hasn’t thrown any codes or anything, but I went ahead and ordered the part anyway (it was only $24.00). Fail.

I changed the cabin air filters and engine air filters of both cars (the 6 and the CX-5) yesterday and minorly screwed up on both. Got my glovebox stuck halfway open in the 6 (fixed it quickly) and broke the corner of the air filter housing on the CX-5.

Can’t win for losing some days. At least both cars take the same filters so I just have to order two of each from Amazon.

Could be worse. I realized yesterday when I was changing my cabin air filter I unplugged a wire to get access and forgot to plug in back in. Fast forward to the next day and I am wondering why the hell my A/C is no longer working. $125 later to pay the mechanic to find out something you forgot to do back up is pretty damn annoying

do you have the piece? You could just clean up the area and JB weld it back on. Or plastic weld if you are feeling serious.

It doesn’t affect the engine because it’s upstream of your maf sensor. I’d cancel your order and do mattbobs suggestion.
